2020 Widow's Peak Pinot Noir
Sonoma County

The key to Widow's Peak Sonoma County Pinot Noir is the diversity of vines within the vineyard. This sounds odd, given that the wine comes entirely from within a single vineyard, but this site is substantial and possesses a myriad of soils, exposures, and unique terroirs that together produce a superb representation of the whole of the Green Valley within the Russian River Valley. We selected 4 clones of the 14 different clones of Pinot Noir that are planted on this vineyard. Two heritage clones make up 40% of the blend with the rest consisting of clones 777 and 667.
This 2020 offering showcases Pinot Noir in all its complexity while making a wine that is eminently drinkable upon release.
Tasting Notes: The nose is full of bright cherry and tart boysenberry with hints of mouthwatering nutmeg and fresh cedar. The entry greets you with raspberry and black cherry with sweet walnut just behind the curtain of fruit giving the wine a well rounded flavor that can stand its own. The tannins are fine grained and with a vibrant acidity the 2020 Widows Peak Pinot Noir keeps you on your toes.
Winemaking: We hand-harvested over two weeks in several lots, the grape clusters were de-stemmed, then optically sorted and fed directly into stainless steel fermentation tanks. A seven day cold soak helps develop color and intensity, with twice daily, gentle pump-overs. The wine spent 8 months in 100% French oak, 40% new.
